How do I get permission to re-use someone else's figure or image in my own publication?
Answer
If the figure or image/photograph is part of an article, published in a commercial journal, one can easily apply for permission via a system called RightsLink Service. Most of the publishers use this service. The link to the service can be found on the page where the article, with the figure or image/photograph, is published. Other journals have links with the text ”Request permission”, ”Terms & Conditions” or "Copyright information” with an e-mail address where one can send a permission request.
