How do I cite a source that I have found in another source?

Answer

Try as much as possible to avoid using secondary sources, because of the risk of alteration to the original text. If there is no other alternative please discuss it with you supervisor first. In the body of the text specify the primary source and refer to the secondary source. In the bibliography you only refer to the secondary source.

In APA

In your text: (Sparrow, as cited in Smith, 2014).

In your reference list: Smith, J. (2014). Docking fees and undeclared goods. Port Royale, The Black Pearl.
